"Hoghton tower is a UK national treasure, based high on a hill in the heart of Lancashire. Its local to me and is a location I have wanted to shoot at for a long time. The Grade I listed building, built in 1109 AD is the ancestral home to the de Houghton family and is steeped in history with guest including King Henry I, William Shakespeare and Charles Dickens. As far as I knew Houghton tower was exclusively used for tours and events. They don't generally entertain us photography folk! It maybe a photographer in the past knocked over a vase, scratched the oak floors or tried on the armour!

By chance I heard someone had booked the Tower for a vintage craft fair. So with an air of hope I contacted them and suggested, a collaborative shoot. I offered my services and put forward an idea of a fashion shoot, a publicity stunt.

Something that would be of interest and provide them with some great marketing material. They agreed and put forward the proposal to Houghton Tower, who were keen to get involved. The idea was to create some images that had a vintage feel and fitted in with the feel and look of the location. The shoot would be also filmed.

We were permitted to shoot in three indoor areas and an outdoor forecourt. Our shoot time was limited due to a school tour. With this time we still managed to do four different setups. Everyone involved the models, stylist, hair, makeup, fashion designers, flower arranger, film guys all offered their services on a time for prints basis, it was one big coillabrative affair.

We even had a Phase One representative on hand with some amazing bits of kit to try out! Local newspapers, radio and websites picked up on the story and the event was a complete sell out. Phase One kit used - Phase One 645 DF+ IQ260 80 & 55 mm Schneider lens, Capture Pro One"
